Nine of the jury, before whom the Petitioners were convicted, are dissatisfied with their verdict, and pray that a free Pardon be granted to the said Lam Apate, Leang Ashin, and like one too.

The Council is aware that the propriety of this conviction has been much canvassed in the Colony, and indeed this is not the first time that the question has been discussed at the Council Board; and taking into consideration all the circumstances bearing upon these trials, the Council is of opinion that the Prisoners should be pardoned.
The matter having been fully discussed, the Governor undertakes to extend the pardon of Her Most Gracious Majesty to the Prisoners; and the Colonial Secretary is instructed to have the usual Proclamation drawn out and published accordingly.
